Innovation is a term that is constantly bandied about these days. In fact, 84% of executives are in agreement that the ability to innovate isn’t just good, it’s crucial for their business. And yet, a mere 6% of said leaders are actually happy with the levels of innovation that they see in their organization.

If you, your team, or even your company as a whole struggles with innovation, you most certainly are not alone. …

Business productivity is defined as the ratio between the production obtained and the resources used to obtain that production. It’s, therefore, an indicator of efficiency. The objective is always to do more with less.

To increase the production of materials and expendable objects, we resort to industrial mechanization. But there are companies, or areas of a company, in which the production capital is the knowledge and creativity of the workers themselves. These are the so-called knowledge workers.

This type of worker tends to “create their own work” based on their thinking and the needs of the company. Measuring their productivity…

As mental health is increasingly receiving the awareness that it rightly deserves, workplaces are also slowly starting to adapt their environments and values in order to effectively be able to manage and offer the appropriate support that anybody might require. Being the place where most people spend the majority of their time, a workplace environment can have a major impact on our mental wellbeing.

On the same note, a negative mental state will also, in turn, adversely affect the workplace; if left untreated, mental health problems could potentially get out of hand, and as a result, manifest into matters such…

During the last few months we have received many messages from FacileThings users who were unable to integrate Braintoss with FacileThings. The truth is that it could not be done directly, due to a technical issue.

A few days ago I got in touch with the guys at Braintoss to explain the problem to them and their CEO, Marcel Wientjen, immediately replied that they would try to solve it as soon as possible. Just one day later, one of their engineers sent me the solution (thanks Michiel!).

If you don’t know Braintoss, it’s an app for Android and iPhone that…

There’s no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging for all businesses and their employees. One of the most prevalent adjustments many have had to make is in respect to remote operations. For those that have previously relied upon office spaces, it can be a bit of a bumpy ride handling unfamiliar practices and a shift in team dynamics. Some teams have had to learn from scratch how to collaborate successfully in a remote setting.

For members of leadership, one issue that has arisen is the potential for time theft. This is where employees bill for services or draw…

Notifications and vibrations compete tirelessly for our attention, and of course, apps are designed to grab our attention for as long as possible.

Have you ever entered your cell phone for a second to check something and ended up spending half an hour looking at the screen? Yes, I have too.

We have integrated this technology so much into…

Those of us who use GTD as a personal organization system start by capturing or collecting in a trusted place everything we think we need to do something about. A trusted place is one that allows us to consult or retrieve that information at any time; it can be a notebook, a smartphone, a web application, etc.

Later on, sometime over the day, we decide what we are going to do (or not do) with everything we’ve gathered, that is, we clarify or process it. At this stage we realize that some of these things are not actionable; either we…

What is the Tickler File?

In the Getting Things Done methodology of personal organization (GTD), the Tickler File is a subsystem that allows you to incubate those things that you don’t need or want to remember until a specific time in the future. When you save something in the Tickler File, it’s like sending an email to yourself knowing that you will receive it at the right time in the future.

What’s it for?

The Tickler File complies with the GTD premise of getting out of your head the ideas, actions, projects, events, etc., …

This week we have redesigned and improved the management of Checklists in FacileThings.

Checklists are very powerful tools for your GTD personal organization. You can use them to ensure that you complete certain tasks without making any mistakes and without forgetting any details of the work to be done, and also to define creative self-management reminders related to any area that is of interest to you.

These lists must be linked to specific actions, so that you have access to them when you are performing the action. …
