The COVID 19 pandemic ushered in a world of globally enforced lockdown periods that we had never seen before in recent history. This means we now have more time on our hands than ever before. However, this is more of an opportunity than a restraint since we can now finally do things we have been meaning to do for a long time. Let us check out a few productive activities that we can enjoy while we are at home:
1. Learn to meditate
It’s very important to always be completely mindful of all your immediate surroundings. This includes both the physical as well as the metaphysical environment. If you are stuck at home due to an enforced quarantine in your area, it would be a great idea to clear your mind with the help of meditation and deep breathing exercises. In fact, a bit of yoga and basic meditation techniques can give you peace of mind at a time when there is a lot of uncertainty around. You should find a quiet and still space with dim lighting to start your meditation efforts.
2. Read all those books you bought but never read
Many of us buy books meaning to read them but never do so due to one thing or the other. Well, now is the time to do something about that. Good books not only exercise the brain but also build up your vocabulary. And it’s not just about sounding cool and being entertained either. Your books can help lower your stress levels and also act to enhance your imagination. It doesn’t matter if you prefer either fiction or nonfiction, you should take out all those dusty old tomes that have been languishing in the attic and start reading them from today! Even if you don’t own a lot of books, you can always download them from Amazon at next to no cost at all.
3. Keep a diary, journal, or blog
If you are the creative sort, you might consider tracking your daily activities, thoughts, and learnings to see how you differ from what you were before. This is a highly productive activity since it will allow you to look back from the future into your past. You will be able to keep track of all the happenings you used to enjoy and also get a chance to process your old memories. If you have a good imagination you can consider writing on a daily basis and who knows, one day you may end up becoming a published author. If you write for even 20 minutes a day, you will have a large volume of work in no time at all. You can go one step further and publish your work on a popular blog site or even your social media account and invite people to read your work and perhaps even learn from it.
4. Learn an entirely new skill
You can enhance your job-related and even education skills and qualifications by the simple expedient of enrolling in online courses. There is just so much out there that you can learn. From learning to playing chess to fencing, all the way to learning to play the piano and reading music. You can even learn a whole new language as well. Of course, it will take a lot of time and effort and you will have to practice diligently. However, you will be able to amaze your friends (and even your own self) once you acquire that new skill.
5. Set up a home fitness routine
Physical health is every bit as important as spiritual health. This is why it is a very good idea to set up a good workout routine with home fitness equipment. If you exercise every day, you will be able to compensate for all the time you have missed out at the gym. However, if going to the gym is not something that would serve you, you can consider working out in nature. For example, biking can be a good experience for you. Especially, if you decide to try something different such as a motorized bike instead of a traditional bike. This way you will enjoy it more and also appreciate the beautiful view.
Just because you are stuck at home is no reason to refrain from being productive as such. From reading a series of good books to exercising at home to meditation and even learning an all-new skill, there is just so much you can do at home. So go ahead and start doing it all!
